Outstanding alumni and student scholars will be feted during the School of Engineering’s annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony on the evening of Tuesday, April 17 in the Lewis B. Rome ballroom located in the South Campus complex.
The event is expected to draw nearly 700 alumni, corporate friends, sponsors, faculty, scholarship awardees and parents of senior awardees. A highlight of the evening is the induction of new members into the University’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers; new inductees are selected by an Engineering/Industry committee from a pool of nominees. In addition, the School will award scholarships to top-performing students. In 2006, more than $550,000 in academic merit scholarships were awarded to continuing students and another $900,000 were offered to entering engineering students. The scholarships are funded by corporate friends and generous alumni.
