Cancer Epidemiologist Featured in Documentary

Richard G. Stevens
Richard G. Stevens

Cancer epidemiologist Richard Stevens is among the experts featured in the independent film “The City Dark,” a documentary about light pollution and losing the night sky. Stevens was invited to be part of the film’s theatrical debut in New York City Jan. 18, at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village. Stevens’ research has uncovered evidence of a connection between artificial light at night and certain cancers. His work contributed to the 2007 declaration of shift work as a “probable carcinogen” by the International Agency for Cancer Research. There will be a screening of “The City Dark” at E.O. Smith High school, next to the Storrs campus, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

The list was created as a result of extensive research and recommendations from around the country from some of the most well-respected knee surgeons in America.
