Dear UConn friends and family,
With the winter settling in here at the University of Connecticut and the holidays nearly upon us, I would like to wish you a very happy holiday season and a terrific 2012. Looking back over this past year, I am incredibly gratified by all that our extraordinary University has accomplished.
Not only are our students today amongst the most academically talented of any in UConn’s history, but our University also now stands with great pride as one of the nation’s top 20 public universities. Every day, UConn faculty members lead research in fields as diverse as science, technology, public policy, social life, and the arts. They pursue a mission to challenge our students, enhance the quality of life for our state’s residents, and make an international impact. And across each of our campuses, our staff continues to provide the support services for our community that ensure our University thrives each day. Even in the face of difficult economic times, UConn remains poised for meaningful, positive change, and we have every reason to strive for even greater success in the coming years.
I am thankful for your resourcefulness, hard work, and imagination – all of which have helped shape the UConn that we celebrate today.
As you know, I believe the humanities to be central to this University, so who better to celebrate the holidays with than one of our fine a cappella groups:
