UConn Engineering seniors received training in ANSYS engineering simulation software in a two day event recently. ANSYS software, which is used by a variety of engineering fields, is used to model structures, fluids, electronics and system simulation.

The software is used by thousands of professional engineers and companies across the world, giving UConn students access to the same modeling software that may be used by their potential employers. ANSYS gave UConn a campus-wide license to their software in 2014, allowing any interested student access to the modeling software.

“ANSYS software is used by many of the companies that hire our students. Providing this on-site training is a real benefit for our students about to enter the job market.  I’d like to express my gratitude to ANSYS for helping our students gain valuable, hands-on experience,” said Engineering Senior Associate Dean Michael Accorsi.

The first day of the event focused on a Fluent Quick Start Training Session, with topics including Geometry editing, meshing, Fluent set-up, solve and post-processing, and parametric analysis. The second day of the event centered on Mechanical Quick Start Training Session, with topics including meshing, modeling assemblies, modal analysis, thermal analysis and parallel processing & parametric analysis. Students came in and out of the training, as classes permitted. Students also received lunch and t-shirts.
