Robert Brinton, Jr., P.E. (B.S. Civil Engineering, ‘88) joined the Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG) as a project manager. In that role, Brinton supports the management and administration of Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) projects and transportation planning studies. He has 15 years of experience as a town engineer for the towns of Hamden, Milford, and Bloomfield, and previously worked for several engineering consulting firms designing highway, railroad, and bridge projects.
Kevin Miles (B.S. Management & Engineering for Manufacturing, ’00), founder and CEO of Eureeka BI, has earned a $10,000 Entrepreneur Innovation Award from CTNext, a Rocky Hill-based program aimed at advancing the state’s community of entrepreneurs. A business intelligence and analytics company, Eureeka BI has been incubating at Central Connecticut State University’s Institute of Technology & Business Development since 2012.
Rebecca Stern (B.S. Materials Science & Engineering, ’16) was awarded the 2016 Structural Materials Division (SMD) Scholarship from The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) to support her graduate studies at UC Berkeley. Stern is pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering and is particularly intrigued by how the microstructure, properties and processing of a material simultaneously influence its ability and potential to create new and extraordinary products.
