Honors

Dr. Mario Fahed, a geriatric psychiatrist in the UConn Center of Aging at UConn Health, has been named the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry’s 2024 Educator of the Year. The group presented Fahed with the award, which recognizes demonstrated excellence in the field of geriatric psychiatry education, at its annual meeting on March 15.

Angello Rossi, a high school student in the work-based learning program in Facilities Operations, finished first in the Skills USA competition for Connecticut. A student at Windham Technical High School, he competed in two work stations consisting of pipe bending and residential wiring. He will compete in the national competition in Atlanta in June.

Dr. Aditya Tadinada, associate dean for graduate research, education, and training at the School of Dental Medicine was named the 2024 recipient of the Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its Application (SCADA) Burton C. Borgelt/SCADA Faculty Advisory Award. The award honors a faculty advisor who has distinguished themselves as a dental scientist and serves as a mentor to dental students in research.

John Harding, 78, of Tolland, Conn., a former professor of real estate and finance, on March 21.

Ruth Martin, 93, of Hartford, Conn., a professor emerita and former associate dean in the School of Social work, on March 24.
