Our Engineering Career Fairs have been so successful this year that a second Spring Career Fair has been added.

The second Career Fair takes place April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. UCONN’s Storrs campus in the South Rome Commons Ballroom.

John Bau, Career Consultant for the School of Engineering, said the last spring Career fair brought an unusually high number of companies and students when it was held in February. The fair featured 67 employers and brought 657 students – a record for the School’s spring career fairs, and a good indication of the high demand for top-notch engineers in the state. It was so successful that School officials decided to hold a second one.

“To the collective memory of everyone in the office, there’s never been a second spring career fair,” Bau said.

Career fairs are good idea for anyone preparing to enter the workforce. They give attendees a chance to meet prospective employers, discuss career and internship opportunities and do their best to impress. It’s also a great way to polish job interviewing skills, learn more about summer and full-time job opportunities, and make crucial contacts in their field.

The School of Engineering’s two fall career fairs also did booming business. According to Bau, the Oct. 2 fair was the most popular fall career fair in the School’s history, with  64 employers and 830 students attending. Also in October, the School held its first Engineering Graduate Career Expo, the collective effort of the SoE Associate Dean Mei Wei, Graduate Outreach Manager Aida Ghiaei  and Student Association of Graduate Engineers (SAGE).  That fair was attended by 15 employers and 150 students.
