Larry Acquarulo (M.S. Materials Science ‘84), founder, Chief Executive Office and President of Foster Corporation, Putnam, CT, was honored with the opportunity to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on January 16th. He was joined by other representatives from the Deloitte 2013 Technology Fast 500™ Tri-State winning companies. Foster is a world leader in radiopaque compounds for minimally invasive devices. Larry holds multiple U.S. and international patents in the fields of nano composites, cross-linkable polymers, lubricated and drug-filled polymers for medical device and industrial applications. He received his PhD in engineering management at the Kennedy Western University, Thousand Oaks, CA.
John C. Carrington (M.S. Civil Engineering ‘93), P.E., has been selected Director of the Department of Public Works for the town of Mansfield, CT following the retirement of Lon Hultgren (MS, Civil Engineering, 1973), who served as Director for 35 years. Jon previously served as Manager of the Utilities Division in Groton, CT. Earlier in his career, he was Assistant Director of Public Works in Groton; prior to that, he was an engineer office in the U.S. Army, from which he retired as a lieutenant colonel. Jon received his B.S. form the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a second M.S. in military operational art and science from the U.S. Air Force Air University.
George Kruk Philbrick (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, minor Mathematics, ‘10) is an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. Prior to entering Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, he was employed as an engineer with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He is stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola where he is training as a Naval Flight Officer.
