It is said that luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Sarah Myers had kept in touch with her undergraduate advisor at UConn as she continued her graduate studies in education as well as her career as a clinical athletic trainer. When she decided it was time to pursue a PhD, she found that her mentor was looking for someone with her experience in athletic training. The fortuitous event led Myers back to UConn’s Department of Kinesiology.
In addition to her research, Myers is contracted to work as an athletic trainer at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) as a graduate assistant with their clubs sports teams, including men’s and women’s rugby, ice hockey, cheerleading and football. She also helps TA athletic training courses at ECSU during the school year and works as an adjunct instructor there during the summer sessions when classes are available. Here is what she said in an interview.
Where did you study as an undergraduate?
I attended UConn for my undergraduate degree.
What was your major?
I majored in athletic training.
