To the UConn Community,

I’m pleased to invite you to attend the second annual Sustainable Clean Energy Summit, which will take place on Monday, Sep. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Student Union on the Storrs campus. This gathering will embrace our collaborative environment and encourage the exchange of ideas that will help catalyze advancements in clean energy and mark UConn’s progress in pursuit of our decarbonization goals.

I am delighted to join panelists and speakers including the keynote speaker, U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary for Electricity Gene Rodrigues, as well as Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes, Eversource Energy Executive Vice President Penni Conner, among many other esteemed colleagues.

In my 14 years at the University, I have been proud to play a role in the prioritization of green technologies and lasting partnerships that not only empower our students, but have lasting implications on our state, region and world. This will be on full display at this year’s Summit, as we extend our Memorandum of Understanding with Eversource Energy to make our facilities across all UConn campuses more energy efficient to meet our goal of carbon neutrality by 2030. To learn about our current efforts, I invite you to watch this video.

I’m also looking forward to our inspiring students as they showcase their talents during the Clean Energy and Sustainability Innovation Program Student Challenge and the Clean Energy Engagement Fair. These students are our future and are working hard to advance clean energy, especially through emerging technologies such as hydrogen and geothermal.

Please consider joining me at the Sustainable Clean Energy Summit on Monday, Sep. 23 to interact with our panelists from industry, government, and community organizations, and connect with companies who will be on hand to share information about career opportunities in the clean energy sector. Please register to attend today.

Sincerely,
Radenka Maric
UConn President
