Dr. Cato T. Laurencin, chief executive officer of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering, was presented the John P. McGovern Compleat Physician Award by the Houston Academy of Medicine. The award is given to individuals who exemplify the life and practices of Sir William Osler, who was considered the “Father of Modern American Medicine.” The award recognizes multi-accomplished physicians who have enriched the field of medicine with excellence and humaneness.
Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Professor in Sustainable Energy Chih-Jen (Jackie) Sung was honored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) with its 2024 AIAA Energy Systems Award for his outstanding contributions in engineering low-emission energy systems.

Dr. Jerry Lawrence, 90, of Windham, Conn., a former member of the Board of Trustees and the UConn Health Board, on Jan. 9. He was also a longtime consulting orthopedist for the Division of Athletics.
Charles Scott, 88, of Tulsa, Okla., a former professor of interior design, who developed the major, and the former curator of decorative arts for The William Benton Museum of Art, on Jan 2.
William Wickless, 81, of Mansfield, Conn., an emeritus professor of mathematics, on Jan. 7.
