Awards

Dr. Iman Al-Naggar, assistant professor of cell biology and surgery at UConn Health, was named a recipient of the 2023 Urology Care Foundation Research Scholar Awards by the American Urological Association and the Urology Care Foundation.

Raman Bahal, associate professor of pharmaceutics, was named the inaugural recipient of the Moderna Award for Biomedical Innovation by the RNA Society.

The American Association of Law Schools honored two UConn Law faculty members, associate professors Jessica de Perio Wittman and Anna VanCleave, with awards at the organization’s annual meeting last week. de Perio Wittman won the inaugural Technology and Ethics Award. The prize recognizes contributions to scholarship, teaching, or innovative projects at the intersection of technology and ethics. VanCleave, director of the Criminal Defense Clinic at UConn Law, won the 2024 Junior Scholars Paper Competition of the association’s Section on Criminal Law.

Adam McCready, assistant professor-in-residence of Higher Education and Student Affairs in the Neag School of Education, has been selected as a recipient of the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award, presented by the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Foundation. The award recognizes those who have exhibited outstanding achievements in the fraternity/sorority industry, including participating in service and research beyond the recipient’s organization and scope of role.

In Memoriam

Robert Cone, 80, of Farmington, Conn., the former director of the graduate program in immunology at UConn Health and a faculty member in the Department of Pathology, on Jan. 5.

Margaret Cushing, 95, of Plantsville, Conn., a UConn Health retiree, on Dec. 15.

Nancy Daley, 80, of West Hartford, Conn., a 20-year employee at UConn Health in behavioral sciences, pediatric dentistry, and child and family studies, on Jan. 3.

Dawn Hannah, 88, of Washington, D.C., a retired employee of the Department of Career Services, on Dec. 18.

Joyce Grant, 78, of St. James, Jamaica, a retired nurse at UConn Health, on Dec. 18.
