Honors
Raman Bahal, associate professor of pharmaceutics, has received the Emerging Leader Award from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). The award honors a pharmaceutical professional who is early on in their career yet has made significant pharmaceutical improvements for public health.
Diane Burgess, Board of Trustees distinguished professor of pharmaceutics, Pfizer distinguished endowed chair in pharmaceutical technology, has been honored with the Alice E. Till Advancement of Women in Pharmaceutical Sciences Recognition from the AAPS. This award recognizes a pharmaceutical professional who has contributed significantly to the mentorship and advancement of women in the pharmaceutical sciences.
School of Nursing faculty Ruth Lucas and Louise Reagan will be inducted as Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing. The Academy recognizes nursing’s most accomplished leaders in policy, research, practice, administration, and academia.
Wiley Dawson, assistant director of the Center for Career Development and based at UConn Hartford, will be honored at the “100 Men of Color” Black Tie Gala and Awards Ceremony on Oct. 27, at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford. The event recognizes the contributions of men of color in education, business, entrepreneurship, government, entertainment, and service and the impact they have made throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
In Memory Of
A dedicated employee and proud alum who died last year is being remembered by her friends and colleagues in the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources and throughout the University. The Board of Trustees approved a proposal to honor Nicole Gabelman by naming the bench outside of the W.B. Young Building in her memory. Gabelman worked for more than 14 years as a student and staff member in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture.
