Award

Thanh Nguyen, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has been named one of two national  winners of the 2022 Biomaterial Young Investigator Award from the journal Biomaterials. He will receive his award at the 32nd Annual Conference of the European Society of Biomaterials on Sept. 5.

In Memoriam

Susan Anderson, 77, of New Milford, Conn., a retired professor of philosophy, on July 30.

David Bogdan, 79, of Westfield, Mass., who was a medical technologist at UConn Health for 27 years before retiring in 2003, on June 29.

Scott Brohinksy, 72, of Brownsville, Vt., who had a 21-year career at UConn leading governmental relations and communications, on Aug. 18. Please see the story on the front page of UConn at Work.

Charlene Curtis, 67, of Winston-Salem, N.C., an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team from 1995-97, on Aug. 18.

Joseph Glasser, 97, of West Hartford, Conn., who  taught in the School of Business for 30 years before  retiring in 1981, on August 6.

Larry Rachleff, 67, of Houston, an assistant professor of music from 1981-83 who directed the University wind ensemble and symphony band, on August 8.

Nancy Schweitzer, 70, of Gaffney, S.C., a retiree, on August 15.

Robert Wiecenski, 79, of Willington, Conn., a plumber in Facilities Operations who retired after 32 years as shop foreman, on August 14.
