UConn School of Pharmacy’s Office of Experiential Education (OEE) team was recognized with a ’20-’21 Award for Excellence in Experiential Education at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s (AACP) Annual Meeting in July.
This year’s award, given to accredited experiential education offices across the nation, honors the “… tremendous efforts at keeping [experiential] programs operating despite unimaginable pandemic related challenges,” said Alison Stevens, a member of the AACP Experiential Education Section Awards Committee, in her congratulatory letter.
The UConn team included (L-R in above photo): Mary Ann Phaneuf, Assistant Director of Experiential Education; Katherine Banker-Murphy, IPPE Service Learning Coordinator; Jill Fitzgerald Director of Experiential Learning and Continuing Professional Development, and Associate Clinical Professor; Philip Hritcko, Dean, and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice; Mary Morytko, Experiential Education Field Coordinator; and, Joshlyn Lucas-Nash, Program Assistant.
“As you might expect, 2020 presented my team with significant challenges,” says Fitzgerald. “I’m grateful for their dedication and professionalism as we navigated this historic year and kept students on track with their education.”
“I’m pleased to see our OEE team members being honored for their work during the pandemic,” says Hritcko. “OEE is a team of dedicated, caring professionals that bent to meet the needs of all of our professional students, to insure that every student met AACP education requirements with practice experiences adjusted to the many requirements and extreme restrictions set by the pandemic.”
