The UConn School of Pharmacy Pharm.D. class of 2021 has selected Visiting Professor Jeannette Wick as the 2021 School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year. “This honor is well deserved and shows Jeannette’s passion and commitment to her students,” says Philip Hritcko, School of Pharmacy Dean.

Wick has a diverse career background, spending 25 years in the U.S. Public Health Service before coming to UConn. She worked in psychiatry while on active duty and then transferred to the National Cancer Institute where she managed a portfolio of investigational drugs and biologics. Freelance medical writing has been part of Jeannette’s career for decades and she has written on numerous diseases and medications. Additionally, Wick has always been interested in management and supervision and has written extensively on those topics as well.

“This award took me by surprise, and I am truly honored,” says Wick. “Working with pharmacy students is simply so much fun… I often wonder if students learn as much from me as I do from them, and I so appreciate their willingness to laugh while we learn.”

“Jeanette is an amazing woman who cares deeply about student success but also pushes them outside their comfort zone to be their best,” says C. Michael White, Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. “High expectations with strong support is Jeanette’s recipe for success.”

Eighteen members of the School of Pharmacy’s faculty received student votes, an indication of the commitment of the school’s faculty to student learning.
