In light of the dire consequences this health crisis has had on many of their fans and their communities, the Travelers Championship will be saluting frontline health care workers during the tournament’s four rounds of competition June 25-28.
As a special thank you, they will be selecting health care workers in Connecticut who have risked their lives caring for COVID-19 patients and feature their name on the back of each caddie’s bib, alongside their respective player’s name. Each player will also carry a photo of the health care worker and their story about their experiences during the pandemic.
This year the Travelers Championship PGA TOUR will look different being conducted without on-site crowds. The event will be broadcast by CBS and the Golf Channel June 25-28. Even if you are not a golf fan, you may see some familiar names this year as eleven colleagues from UConn Health have been selected to participate in the PGA TOUR Caddie Bib Program.
The following employees were chosen to represent UConn Health with the represented players:
Dr. Rob Fuller – Ryan Armour
Rosemary Swankea – Hank Lebioda
Dr. Ray Foley – Keith Mitchell
Jason Carrese – J.T. Poston
Domenic Roy RN – Louis Oosthuizen
Jessica Dittus RN – Troy Merritt
Maria Budzinski RN – Justin Thomas
Patricia Hurley – Matthew Wolff
Alexandra Garten APRN – Luke Donald
Joanne Boucher RN – Tyler Duncan
Dr. David Banach – Cameron Smith
“On behalf of the Travelers Championship and the PGA TOUR, we thank you for your continued service during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Nathan Grube, Tournament Director
