UConn’s undergraduate student population includes nearly 2,000 international students from more than 100 countries. In this video, Zekun Jiang ’20, an actuarial science major from Beijing, talks about the welcome she felt when she arrived in Storrs four years ago.
“It feels so good to be an international student at UConn, because we are not the small minority that nobody knows,” she says. “I have a lot of Chinese friends, and I also have a lot of American friends.”
A student tour guide and an intern with the Connecticut Insurance Department, she says UConn has given her opportunities she wouldn’t otherwise have.
“UConn is one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made in my life, and that was the best decision,” she says.
