The waiting game ends today.
High school students worldwide who’ve been invited to be part of the Class of 2023 at UConn Storrs are getting the good news starting today. Acceptance letters are in the mail and will begin arriving in mailboxes as early as today, and the admissions website has been updated so applicants can log in and check their status.
UConn’s admissions office was a whirl of activity throughout much of the week, as employees worked together to stack, fold, stuff, and sort thousands of application responses to get them out in the mail.
The majority aren’t traveling far, since Connecticut applications remained strong this year and most being offered admission are in-state students. Others are going around the country to Florida, California, and other states – and even as far away as Mumbai and Shanghai.
“UConn is truly a global university, and we can all be proud of the interest it attracts from talented students around the world,” said Vern Granger, UConn’s director of undergraduate admissions. “With that being said, as the flagship institution of the state of Connecticut, in-state students remain our number one focus in trying to build an academically strong and diverse freshman class.”
Once all is said and done, the University expects to welcome about 3,700 new freshmen to Storrs for the fall semester. Students seeking to enroll at the campuses in Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, and Avery Point have until May 1 to submit their applications.
