Stephanie KennedyAssistant professor of social work Dr. Stephanie Kennedy is working with MSW student Stephen Haynes on a new study of inmate labor policy and practice in Connecticut and North Carolina. They aim to describe the types of jobs inmates perform, consider if a gender gap in wages exists, and lay the foundation for a national study. In a separate project, Dr. Kennedy and graduate student Kenyatta Thompson are developing a measure of community stigma toward men and women who have been to jail or prison. This spring they will conduct focus groups of recently released men and women to explore their experience of this stigma.
