Brownfield sites are former industrial or commercial sites that may or may not have been affected by hazardous waste or pollution. That potential waste can make finding a new use for a site difficult. UConn engineering students, as part of their Senior Design Project, can help identify pollution, design cleanup, or plan how to use a site for redevelopment.
