The relocation of women’s health services at UConn Health to their new home starts this weekend.
The new UConn Women’s Center opens for business Tuesday on the eastern side of the eighth floor of the Outpatient Pavilion, and will offer six primary services:
- Maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancies)
- Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery
- Obstetrics and gynecology
- Prenatal genetic counseling
- Reproductive medicine
- Ultrasound, including advanced gynecologic ultrasound, and imaging services (scheduled to open by the end of August)
“It’s really going to be a place where women can come for their health care in a beautiful setting with professional staff and outstanding patient care, and it’s all in one area,” says Dr. Denis Lafreniere, medical director of UConn Health’s faculty practice.
The women’s health services are the last of the practices to arrive in the Outpatient Pavilion, where the first clinical offices opened for business in February 2015.
“We’ve always offered outstanding women’s health services, and now we will have a single, dedicated location for them,” says Dr. Molly Brewer, chair of UConn Health’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
