Antibiotic May Increase Risk of Fatal Heart Attack

A recent study suggests an increased risk in cardiovascular death associated with the antibiotic from azithromycin (sold under the trade name Z-Pak) compared with other antibiotics. Dr. Peter Schulman of the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center tells FOX CT’s Jennifer Bernstein, it’s good for patients to be aware of this and consider other options, but the risk remains exceedingly small.
