The UConn Health Center’s shuttle bus service has been revised.
Two routes have been combined, now served by a single bus, and hours of operation have been reduced slightly.
“The changes are based on ridership information,” says Assistant Police Chief Ray Bouchard, who says the changes were a mutual decision between the Health Center and Kelly Transit. “The new schedule is a more efficient use of resources. It may require a little more planning initially, but the service will be just as good as before.”
Kelly Transit took over as the Health Center’s shuttle provider July last year.
All three buses will be in until 5 p.m. The biggest change is the combination of the Munson Road route and the off-campus route, labeled on the schedule as “Orange” and “Red.” One bus is now serving both routes. Each hour it will make two round trips between the academic entrance and 16 Munson Road, then make a round trip on the outlying locations: 10 Talcott Notch Road, 230 Farmington Ave., Exchange, 400 Farmington Ave., and 21 South Road.
There are no further changes to the two on-campus routes, labeled on the schedule as “Blue” and “Green.”
The new schedules are available on the Department of Public Safety website.
Meantime, plans are in the works for a new shuttle that would run between the Storrs campus and the Health Center. It’s expected that the details will be finalized later this fall.
