Dr. Denis Lafreniere, a distinguished graduate of the UConn School of Medicine, an accomplished ENT specialist, and director of the Division of Otolaryngology, has been named interim medical director of the UConn Medical Group and interim associate dean for clinical affairs.

Lafreniere replaces Dr. Adam Silverman, who left the Health Center last week, ensuring continuity of leadership for the outpatient practice.

For the last year two years, Lafreniere has served as interim chairman of the Department of Surgery, working closely on recruitment and other leadership initiatives. He will now provide day-to-day leadership for the UMG practice, with emphasis on improving access to clinical services, enhancing efficiencies and helping to develop new clinical strategic directions. In addition, Lafreniere will continue to see patients in ENT and the Voice and Speech Clinic, which he founded in 1992.
