UConn sophomore Perry Wasserbauer, ’13, of Canton, Conn., has been elected to a two-year term as a student director of the University of Connecticut Foundation Board of Directors. His term of office begins immediately.
In his role as student director, Wasserbauer will work with other Foundation Board members to oversee the planning and implementation of fund-raising activities, investment of endowment and other assets, and development of administrative and financial policies for the Foundation. The Foundation raises and manages the investment of private gifts and financial resources for the benefit of all campuses and programs of the University of Connecticut.
Wasserbauer, who is majoring in political science and minoring in communications, is chair of the funding committee within the Foundation’s Student Philanthropy Committee, and president of UConn Krav Maga. In addition, he is an active member of GUARD Dogs and works on campus at Transportation Services as a shuttle bus driver. He hopes that through his efforts, students will gain a better understanding of the role philanthropy plays in their experience at UConn and will ultimately be motivated to give back.
The Foundation Board includes elected directors from corporations and community organizations, as well as other members from the University administration, faculty, and student body. By design, this strong constituency reflects a broad spectrum of professional experience, skills, and knowledge necessary to achieve the Foundation’s ambitious goals. Members volunteer their time, expertise, and financial resources to promote UConn’s continued ascent among the top public research universities in the nation.
