The University of Connecticut Blue-White Spring Football Game will be played on Saturday, April 16 at Rentschler Field. The game is open to the public, and admission and parking are free.
In a change from the traditional noon start, the game will begin at 5 p.m. this year. Parking lots will open at 2 p.m., with gates to the stadium opening at 3:30 p.m.
“As we prepared for spring football and our annual Blue-White Game, we felt that moving the start of the spring game to 5 p.m. would make it more convenient and appealing for our fans,” says Jeffrey Hathaway, director of athletics. “It’s a busy time of the year, with youth sports taking place and other spring-time activities as the weather improves.
“We are hoping that our fans can use the morning and afternoon of an April day and then join us at Rentschler Field for a kickoff at what we believe is a fan-friendly time,” Hathaway added. “I encourage all fans to come out and support coach Paul Pasqualoni and our Huskies.”
A number of activities are planned for the spring game including a Select-A-Seat season ticket sale, an autograph session, a Fan Fest, and a post-game on-field football toss. Further details will be announced as the game approaches.
“I am looking forward to seeing a large number of Husky fans come to our Spring Football Game,” says Pasqualoni. “I am thrilled to return to my home state to coach the UConn program, and I can’t wait to get into Rentschler Field with my new team.”
