Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced a company that improves the reliability of power cable systems will move into a larger facility and expand its operations in Connecticut.
IMCORP, which got its start in the University of Connecticut’s Technology Incubation Program, is a leading provider of underground power cable reliability enhancement solutions. The company has outgrown space in Storrs and will lease a facility at 50 Utopia Road in Manchester to house its headquarters, production operation and research and development center.
IMCORP was founded on the basis of technology developed at the University of Connecticut Institute of Material Science by professor emeritus of Electrical & Systems Engineering Matthew Mashikian and has been located at the Storrs campus through the UConn Technology Incubation Program. IMCORP was listed in 2009 as an Inc 5000 fastest growing company in recognition of its significant business growth.
The company is expected to create 25 more positions in the next three years, bringing its workforce total to 50.
“The fact that IMCORP started here and has made the decision to grow here is great news for our state and underscores the importance of bringing new ideas and technologies from our universities to the commercial marketplace. This type of activity creates jobs, supports entrepreneurship and fosters innovation,” said Governor Rell.
