Outstanding engineering students will be feted during the School of Engineering’s annual awards ceremony on the evening of Monday, April 19. The presentation of scholarships will take place at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts beginning at 6:00 p.m. A 5:00 — 6:00 p.m. reception will precede the presentation of awards.
This year, the event will honor not only exceptional undergraduate scholars but also graduate students who have captured fellowship awards. Families, scholarship donors and industry friends are welcome to attend.
The award-winning female a capella group “the Chordials” will provide musical entertainment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view posters profiling design solutions developed by graduating seniors to address authentic engineering challenges posed by commercial sponsors. The students will be on hand to discuss their projects and answer questions.
Last year, the School of Engineering awarded more than $485,000 in merit scholarships to 221 continuing undergraduates. View photos of the 2010 ceremony here.
With tuition continuing to rise across the country, many students find it difficult to attend college or to graduate on time.
