Nominations are sought for Commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients for the University’s Commencement ceremony in May 2010.
Nominations may be made by any member of the faculty, staff, student body, administration, community, or Board of Trustees, or by an alumnus of the University. An individual may not nominate himself or herself. All nominations should be made and kept in strict confidence.
To submit a nomination, please download the materials from the Board of Trustees website, where the nomination procedures and criteria for selection are outlined and the nomination form is provided. Please note the list of supporting information that is requested with the submission of the nomination form.
The Board’s selection criteria state, in part, that an honorary degree should be awarded “in recognition of extraordinary and lasting distinction;” that it “should represent the highest intellectual and moral values;” and that it should be possible “to document the national or international impact of the contributions.”
Nomination materials must be received by Feb. 11 at the Office of the President, University of Connecticut, 352 Mansfield Road, Unit 2048, Storrs, CT 06269-2048.
If you have questions or would like further information, please call the Office of the President at 860-486-2337.
