Come to Storrs on Saturday (May 3) and be inspired! The Connecticut Invention Convention will celebrate its 10th year at the Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, and its silver anniversary, with a memorable demonstration of youthful invention. The School of Engineering will once again host and sponsor this state-wide exhibition, which brings more than 650 youthful inventors to town.

Visitors may view the inventions between 12:00 and 1:30. Opening ceremonies, also open to the public, begin at 10:00 a.m. and include welcoming remarks by Engineering Dean Mun Y. Choi. During the judging phase from 10:45 to noon, visitors may explore child-friendly engineering and science-oriented exhibits in Gampel, tour the Storrs campus, visit the UConn Dairy Bar for world famous ice cream, or pay a visit to the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History & Archaeology Center. The awards ceremony begins at 1:30.

The Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) is an exhibition of pragmatic problem solving among K-8 school children and tangible evidence that – with proper nurturing – the very young are capable of impressive ingenuity.

Some of the CIC competitors have appeared as guests on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, American Inventor, WFSB’s “Everyday Heroes” and the Martha Stewart Show, as well as educational programming on PBS’s Cyberchase and ZOOM.
